One of the most challenging covers we designed in recent times for Penguin Random House India, is the one for this book by investigative journalist Siddharthya Roy. The design process lasted months with many many iterations and fresh re-looks at the design brief. Eventually, everyone involved in the cover design's decision making process settled upon this striking image. Simple as it may seem from the outside, a book's cover design process involves intense interaction between many teams - the challenge of visual representation often being overshadowed by the challenge of mutual and satisfactory agreements between everyone (designer, art director, editors, sales teams, publisher and author)!
